Wanderers date fans ahead of Ekhaya tie
Mighty Wanderers yesterday stormed the Eastern Region selling club merchandise, registering supporters and mobilising fans ahead of Sunday’s TNM Super League match against Ekhaya FC at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The club’s brands and marketing manager Greyson Chapita yesterday said the initiative is part of their broader strategy to bring the club closer to its nationwide fan-base.
“This is not a once-off event. We are introducing regional activations as part of our marketing drive. Wanderers FC is more of a national team, and we want to give supporters, regardless of their location, access to our merchandise, club registration and opportunity to be part of our Nyerere movement,” said Chapita.

He said that the team’s current impressive form provides an ideal opportunity to capitalise on the growing excitement and push for stronger merchandise sales and supporter engagements in the Eastern Region districts of Zomba, Balaka, Machinga and Mangochi.
The Nomads are second on the 16-team Super League log-table with 26 points from 10 games. They are just a single point behind leaders FCB Nyasa Bullets and six points ahead of Ekhaya, who were third before yesterday’s fixtures and have played a game more.
Wanderers’ Eastern Region Supporters Committee chairperson Davies Monjeza hailed the initiative as a game-changer in reconnecting the club with its supporters across the country.
“This is what we have been waiting for as Eastern Region fans. Bringing the team closer to the people through these activations boosts our morale and gives us a sense of belonging. We are fully behind this initiative and we are ready to turn up in numbers on Sunday,” he said.
Wanderers have put on the market merchandise such as replica jerseys, golf shirts, flasks and caps. Lucky fans during the activations get various giveaways such as match-day tickets and 888bet-branded T-shirts.
